چکیده

We present a method applied to the emotional subjective experience of the user for extracting emotional semantic information from Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) physiological signals (skin conductance and heart rate) sensed via bio-sensors. We present a physiologicallyinspired data structure based on intra-individual rule extraction used to reach an interpretation of the physiological measure closely related to the user own emotional experience.

Psychophysiological Signal Processing for Building a User Model in Adaptive e-Learning Systems

User’s psychophysiological state model allows taking into account learner’s emotional and physiological states during technology-based learning. The capability of recognizing the „human factor” considerably improves the Human-Computer-Interaction process and the impact of learning as well. High efficiency of such e-learning systems is achieved due to adaptation ability to learners’ real-time be...

Character-based Interfaces Adapting to Users’ Autonomic Nervous System Activity

This paper explores some possibilities of using real-time processing of users’ physiological signals in order to improve the interaction with character-based interfaces. Specifically, interfaces that adapt to or reflect a user’s affective state as derived from the user’s autonomic nervous system activity will be discussed. The ‘Emotion Mirror’ is an example of a system where the user’s emotions...

A User Model of Psycho-physiological Measure of Emotion

The interpretation of physiological signals in terms of emotion requires an appropriate mapping between physiological features and emotion representations. We present a user model associating psychological and physiological representation of emotion in order to bring findings from the psychophysiology domain into User-Modeling computational techniques. We discuss results based on an experiment ...

Using Infrared Thermography and Biosensors to Detect Thermal Discomfort in a Building’s Inhabitants

This paper lays the grounds for a new methodology for detecting thermal discomfort, which can potentially reduce the building energy usage while improving the comfort of its inhabitants. The paper describes our explorations in automatic human discomfort prediction using physiological signals directly collected from a buildings inhabitants. Using infrared thermography, as well as several other b...
